Privacy Policy
This page describes what SeatSort does with personal data. It is short because the service collects little.
Controller
The controller within the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR is:
- FC Technology, LLC
- 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States of America
- federicoagustincaccia@gmail.com
We have not appointed a data protection officer. Article 37 GDPR requires one only where processing calls for regular and systematic monitoring of people on a large scale, or turns on special categories of data. Seating charts are neither: we hold the names you type in, and nothing more sensitive than that.
What we store
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Signing in, receiving the one-time link | Art. 6(1)(b) — the contract |
| Your charts: room, names, groups, rules, seats | Saving and exporting a chart you asked for | Art. 6(1)(b) — the contract |
| Stripe customer id and payment status | Knowing what you bought | Art. 6(1)(b) — the contract |
| Server and request logs, kept briefly | Keeping the service up and abuse away | Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest |
We do not run advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
Charts you never save
Building a chart without an account keeps it in your browser's local storage. That copy never reaches our servers. Clearing your site data deletes it and we cannot recover it.
Cookies
We set no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no consent banner to click. What the site does use:
- Local storage for the chart you are editing and for your light or dark preference. Both stay in your browser.
- A session cookie after you sign in, so that you stay signed in. It is strictly necessary for the service and is deleted when you sign out.
- A language cookie when you pick a language, so the site opens in it next time.
Traffic measurement is done with Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and does not identify individual visitors.
Processors
We use a small number of providers, each under a data processing agreement:
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
- Neon — the PostgreSQL database that stores accounts and charts.
- Stripe — payments. Card details go to Stripe directly; we never see them.
- Resend — sending the sign-in links and receipts.
Some of them process data in the United States, on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long
- Charts: until you delete them, or thirty days after you delete your account.
- Account and email address: until you delete your account.
- Payment records: as long as tax law requires them to be kept, typically ten years.
- Logs: a few weeks.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, for it to be corrected or deleted, for a portable copy, for processing to be restricted, and you can object to processing based on a legitimate interest. You can also complain to a supervisory authority in the country where you live.
Write to the support address and we will answer within a month.
Children
SeatSort is a tool for adults. A teacher using it puts pupils' names into a chart; that data is processed on the school's instructions, not for our own purposes, and it is never used for anything but drawing the plan the teacher asked for.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, registered users are told by email. The date at the top of this page is the date of the last change.
