Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of SeatSort, a web application for building seating charts for events and classrooms. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

The company operating SeatSort, its address and its registration details are listed in the Imprint.

1. What the service does

SeatSort lets you describe a room, paste a list of people, add rules about who sits where, and have seats assigned automatically. You can then export the result or share a link where each guest looks up their own seat.

Building a chart, editing it and running the automatic assignment are free and need no account. Saving a chart to our servers, exporting it without a watermark and sharing a guest link require a paid plan.

2. Accounts

An account is created with an email address. We sign you in with a one-time link sent to that address; there is no password to lose. You are responsible for keeping access to your mailbox, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

You must be old enough to enter a contract in your country. SeatSort is not aimed at children.

3. Prices, payment and renewal

Current prices are shown on the pricing page and include the applicable taxes where they are shown as gross. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never receive your card details.

  • An event pass is a one-time payment that unlocks one chart for a fixed period, stated at the time of purchase. It does not renew.
  • A classroom subscription renews monthly or yearly until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

4. Withdrawal for consumers in the EU

Paid features are digital content delivered immediately. As a consumer in the EU you have fourteen days to withdraw from the purchase, and we do not ask you to give that right up: write to us within those fourteen days and we refund you.

If something does not work as described, write to us; a refund is usually faster than an argument.

5. Your charts

Your guest lists, class lists and layouts are yours. We store them to provide the service, and we do not sell them, publish them or use them to train anything.

You are responsible for having the right to process the names you paste. If you upload a class list, your school or employer is normally the controller of that data and you are acting on its behalf.

If you cancel or delete your account, we delete your charts. A chart kept only in your browser is never sent to us at all.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use SeatSort to store data you are not allowed to process, to attack the service or the people using it, to resell access, or to break the law. We may suspend an account that does, and we will say why.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service running and we do not promise that it always will. Features change, and features can disappear. If a paid feature you bought disappears before the period you paid for ends, you get the remainder back.

8. Liability

Nothing here limits liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, our liability for a paid plan is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the event that caused the damage. SeatSort is a planning tool: check the finished plan before you print it.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. If a change is material, we will tell registered users by email at least thirty days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top of this page is the date of the last change.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law rules. For business customers, the courts of the State of Delaware have jurisdiction.

Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country they live in, and can always sue at their own place of residence.

11. Contact
